The Rt Revd Michael Beasley, Bishop of Bath and Wells, has been called to serve in the House of Lords as one of the Church of England’s Lords Spiritual.
Originally part of a huge altarpiece commissioned by King James II for a new chapel at Whitehall Palace, the angels first came to Somerset 200 years ago.
The group of 17th centaury angel statues with links to kings, queens, Sir Christopher Wren and Westminster Abbey arrived in Somerset two centuries ago. A series of special events is planned to mark the occasion.
